Istočni Berlin, 1989. Osamnaestogodišnja Suzie napušta školu ubrzo nakon što je završila srednju školu i prisiljena je da počne obuku za kvalificiranu radnicu u tvornici kablova. Igrom slučaja, na putu do posla uslika je modni fotograf i potpuno neočekivano završi na naslovnici modnog časopisa DDR-a „Sybille“. Gotovo preko noći Suzie postaje traženi fotomodel i dobiva šansu pobjeći iz svakodnevnice socijalističke tvornice u glamurozni svijet mode. Njeni suputnici su ekscentrični underground dizajner Rudi i buntovni fotograf Coyote. Rame uz rame, njih troje pokušavaju pronaći svoj osobni put između bujne modne scene i represivne svakodnevnice.
East Berlin, 1989. 18-year-old Suzie is expelled from school just before her final exams and is forced to take a job as a skilled worker at a cable factory. By chance, she is photographed by a fashion photographer on her way to work and unexpectedly lands on the cover of the GDR fashion magazine Sibylle. Almost overnight, Suzie becomes a sought-after fashion model and is given the opportunity to escape the socialist factory life and enter the glamorous world of fashion. Her companions on this journey are the eccentric underground designer Rudi and the rebellious photographer Coyote. Together, the three of them try to find their own path between the lively fashion scene and the repressive everyday life.

U filmu Sarah Neumann pratimo granični prijelaz, od DDR-a do Zapadne Njemačke, plivajući 50 km kroz Baltičko more. Istovremeno, pustolovna drama govori o bliskom prijateljstvu između tri 15-godišnjakinje, čiji svakodnevni životi odražavaju različite načine nošenja sa strukturama DDR-a: jedna se buni i stalno je sankcionirana, druga mora sve svoje talente staviti u službu države. Treća ima sreće, dobiva dopuštenje da napusti zemlju. Sve to u konačnici dovodi do spektakularnog bijega koji ovaj film čini jednako uzbudljivim koliko i dirljivim.
In Sarah Neumann’s film, a border crossing is observed, from East Germany to West Germany, swimming 50 km through the Baltic Sea. In parallel, the adventurous drama tells the close friendship between three 15-year-olds, whose everyday lives reflect different ways of coping with the structures of the GDR: One protests and is constantly sanctioned, the second has to dedicate all her talents to the service of the state, and the third is lucky, receiving permission to emigrate. All of this ultimately leads to the spectacular escape, which makes this film both thrilling and touching.

Redatelj Christian Petzold kreirao je nježan ljetni film koji okuplja četvero mladih ljudi u kući za odmor na Baltičkom moru. Rade, kupaju se, troje su raspoloženi, samo je četvrti Leon stalno iznerviran. Piše knjigu koja mu se ne sviđa, zaljubljen je u Nađu, kojoj ništa o tome ne govori, duri se, jer je autsajder iako bi želio pripadati. Petzold govori o samorefleksiji i grupnoj psihologiji na vrlo razumljiv način – sve dok šuma oko njega ne počne da gori. Tek tada će prestati Leonov bijes, jer su sada svi suočeni sa stvarnom opasnošću.
The great director Christian Petzold has crafted a gentle summer film that brings together four young people in a holiday home by the Baltic Sea. They work, swim, and three of them are in high spirits, while Leon, the fourth, is constantly irritated. He’s writing a book he doesn’t like, he’s in love with Nadja but doesn’t tell her, he sulks because he feels like an outsider, even though he wishes to fit in. Petzold tells a highly relatable story about self-reflection and group psychology – until the forest around them catches fire. It is only then that Leon’s whining comes to an end, as now they are all confronted with real danger.

Odrastati unutar velike psihijatrijske bolnice je… drugačije. Za Joachima, najmlađeg sina direktora klinike Meyerhoffa, zatvorenici su gotovo dio njegove porodice. Mnogo su ljubazniji prema njemu od njegove starije braće koja ga uvijek nerviraju. Kad odraste, Joachim svoju prvu veliku ljubav pronalazi kod očevih pacijenata, gubi brata, seli se u SAD i vraća se svojoj neobičnoj porodici. Zasnovan na autobiografskom romanu Joachima Meyerhoffa, ovaj nevjerojatno smiješan i dirljiv film govori o tome koliko je teško biti porodica.
Growing up on the grounds of a large psychiatric clinic is… different. For Joachim, the youngest son of the clinic director Meyerhoff, the patients are almost part of his family. They are much kinder to him than his older brothers, who always manage to drive him crazy. As he grows up, Joachim finds his first great love among his father’s patients, loses a brother, moves to the USA, and eventually returns to his extraordinary family. Based on the autobiographical novel by Joachim Meyerhoff, this incredibly funny and moving film is about how hard it is to be a family.

Berlinski Gropiusstadt društveno je žarište već 40 godina. Stanovnici su siromašni ili kriminalci ili oboje, a više od polovice ima migrantsko porijeklo. Omladinska drama Davida Wnendta zasnovana na uspješnom romanu podcastera i komičara Felixa Lobrechta, proglašava svaku društvenu kontrolu besmislenom. Ni policija, ni nastavnici, ni roditelji ne poznaju stvarnost na ulicama. Ona se istražuje s ranjivim 15-godišnjakom tokom vrelog ljeta na prijelazu milenija. Gledamo kako se on i trojica dječaka iz komšiluka suprostavljaju svakodnevnom nasilju svojom duhovitošću i prijateljstvom. Neko vrijeme postaje kriminalistički triler jer kradu hrpu kompjutera, ali ih na kraju taj čin vodi do svojevrsnog sretnog kraja.
The Berlin Gropiusstadt has been a social hotspot for 40 years. The residents are either poor, criminal, or both, and more than half have a migration background. David Wnendt’s youth drama, based on the successful novel by podcaster and comedian Felix Lobrecht, renders any social control as pointless, as neither the police, teachers, nor parents understand the reality on the streets. This reality is explored through the eyes of a vulnerable 15-year-old during a hot summer at the turn of the millennium. We watch as he and three neighborhood boys confront daily violence with humor and friendship. For a while, it turns into a crime story when they steal a load of computers, but ultimately, this act leads them to a kind of happy ending.

Filmska adaptacija autobiografskog romana „Alles oder Nix“ njemačkog repera i muzičkog producenta Xatara. Rođen 1981. kao Giwar Hajabi u Iranu, pobjegao u Njemačku s roditeljima Kurdima preko Iraka sredinom 1980-ih. Odrasta u socijalnom stambenom naselju u Bonnu i sanja o slavi I bogatstvu. Kao tinejdžer, Xatar se u početku bavi sitnim kriminalom, ali ubrzo postaje utjecajan diler. Kada pošiljka kokaina nestane i on se nađe u dugovima prema narko kartelu, Xatar planira veliku pljačku zlata. Međutim, to ne ide tako glatko kako se očekivalo.
Adaptation of the autobiographical novel Alles oder Nix by German rapper and music producer Xatar. Born in 1981 as Giwar Hajabi in Iran, he fled with his Kurdish parents to Germany via Iraq in the mid-1980s. He grew up in a social housing estate in Bonn and dreamed of fame and wealth. As a teenager, Xatar initially falls into petty crime but soon becomes a powerful drug dealer. When a cocaine shipment goes missing, and he ends up owing a drug cartel, Xatar plans a large-scale gold heist. However, things don’t go as smoothly as he had hoped.
